Share a Drift Report with Your Team

Produce a report that teammates, reviewers, and stakeholders can actually open. Learn which format to pick for each audience and how to attach reports to pull requests and chat.

Vibgrate Docs

Vibgrate Help

Generating a report is only half the job; the value comes when the right people read it. This guide covers practical ways to share a Vibgrate CLI drift report with developers, reviewers, and non-technical stakeholders.

Overview

vg report renders scan artifacts into Markdown, text, or JSON. The format you choose should match how the report will be consumed. Markdown renders cleanly in pull requests, wikis, and most chat tools; text is portable for emails and logs; JSON feeds dashboards and scripts.

Prerequisites

  • A completed scan in the project (run vg first).
  • The Vibgrate CLI installed, or npx @vibgrate/cli scan available.

Step-by-step

Generate a Markdown report and save it to a file you can attach or paste:

vg report --format markdown --out drift-report.md

Attach drift-report.md to a pull request description, a wiki page, or a chat message. Because the DriftScore leads the document, reviewers see the headline risk number before any detail.

For a quick paste into a terminal-based review or an email, use text:

vg report --format text

Sharing beyond a single file

A file is great for one-off sharing, but for ongoing visibility across the team, upload results to Vibgrate Cloud instead of mailing files around. See Push Scan Results to Vibgrate Cloud. The dashboard at dash.vibgrate.com gives every stakeholder a live view without anyone re-running the CLI.

Choosing a format by audience

1. Upgrade EOL runtime in node-turborepo
End-of-life runtimes no longer receive security patches and block ecosystem upgrades.
./.
>=18.0.0 → 24.0.0 (6 majors behind)
Impact: −10 drift points (runtime & EOL)

2. Fix security posture: no lockfile found
Without a lockfile, installs are non-deterministic. Run the install command to generate one and commit it.
./
Missing: package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml, or yarn.lock

3. Upgrade Vite 5.4.21 → 8.2.2 in @repo/admin (+2 more)
3 major versions behind. Major framework drift increases breaking change risk and blocks access to security fixes and performance improvements.
./apps/admin

./apps/api
Vitest: 1.6.1 → 4.1.11 (3 majors behind)
