This reference summarizes the ecosystems Vibgrate analyzes for upgrade drift and how project manifests drive what the scanner sees. It is for developers in polyglot repositories who want to know what gets picked up. For mechanics, see How It Works.

Ecosystem coverage

Vibgrate scans for upgrade drift across ~19 ecosystems, including Node.js, .NET, Python, Java, Go, Rust, PHP, and Ruby. A single repository can contain several of these at once, and a scan covers the projects it detects.

How manifests are used

Each ecosystem expresses its dependencies through manifest and lockfile conventions. Vibgrate reads these to understand declared versions, then computes drift and the DriftScore (0-100). Lockfiles are particularly valuable because they pin exact resolved versions — for example, the Free Dev Docs Library can pin documentation to your lockfile via vg lib.

Running a scan across ecosystems

A bare scan analyzes everything detected in the current directory:

You do not need to tell the CLI which ecosystems are present; detection is automatic. If a manifest points at a specific package manifest, you can scope behavior with the relevant flags such as --package-manifest or --pm where supported.

When a project is not detected

If an ecosystem you expect is missing from results, it usually means no recognizable manifest was found in the scanned tree, or the path was excluded. See the troubleshooting article on no projects detected.
