Troubleshooting Vibgrate Login and Authentication

Resolve authentication problems with the Vibgrate CLI, from the browser login flow to DSN tokens for CI. Learn how to re-authenticate, clear stale credentials, and authenticate non-interactively.

This article helps you fix authentication problems with the Vibgrate CLI when signing in or uploading to Vibgrate Cloud. It is for developers connecting the CLI to a workspace and for teams wiring uploads into CI.

Sign in from the browser

The simplest way to authenticate is the browser-based login — no token to copy or paste:

vg login

If the browser does not open, complete the flow in the URL the CLI prints. After login, commands like vg push work without further setup.

Clear a stale credential

If uploads are rejected or you switched workspaces, sign out and back in to refresh the stored credential:

vg logout
vg login

Authenticating in CI

The interactive browser flow does not fit headless CI. Instead, create an HMAC-signed DSN token for dashboard uploads:

vg dsn create

Store the token in your CI provider's secret store and supply it to the upload step. Never commit a DSN token to the repository.

Upload fails after authenticating

If vg push still fails:

  • Confirm network egress to the dashboard host is allowed; uploads require network access even though scans are local.
  • Confirm you are logged into the intended workspace (vg logout then vg login).
  • In CI, confirm the DSN token is present and not expired or truncated by the secret store.

You can also scan and upload in one step once authenticated:

vg scan --push
